Summer Fashion Changes

As summer draws to a close, there is a dramatic change afoot. Fashion is switching abruptly from flowing and feminine lines in gentle pastel colours and ditsy floral prints, to sharp suits, oversized silhouettes and vivid jewel colours.

Fashion and beauty often complement one another by contrasting, and nothing is going to girly-up your tailored trouser suit more than a feminine hairstyle in muted shades of brown, ash blonde and copper.

Make-up is toning down too; summer 2011’s statement eyes, bright red lips and colour pop nails are being replaced by smoky, autumnal beiges and nudes on the eyes, clear lip-glossed pouts and pale grey nail polish. To get your autumn hair bang on trend, forget using bright, vibrant block shades and Hollywood ‘power-hair’ a la Cheryl Cole. Instead, try gentle braids, loose and low ponytails and messy layers.

Celebrities

Whatever length your hair is, sleek and chic is out in favour of uneven, choppy styles with a disheveled, feminine finish. Leading the celebrity pack, Rihanna has traded her fiery red locks for a more natural brunette shade; Keira Knightley has perfected the art of the tousled ‘up do’ - the ultimate accessory for masculine-influenced fashion; and Pixie Lott has gone for the chop with a short and sweeping hairstyle, making her look even more gorgeous and girlish than ever.
